A deadline is an objective and verifiable time variable: a date by which concrete, identifiable and measurable consequences occur. Unlike urgency, a deadline exists regardless of how the moment is perceived. You can verify it by asking: what is the date, who bears the consequence, and is the consequence negotiable? If there is no real deadline, any perceived urgency is fueled by external pressure, not by immediate need.
