The backlog is a non-sequential reservoir of ideas, future tasks and intentions that is not worked through in order: you draw from the backlog to fill the operational to-do list for the day or the week. The backlog is separate from the daily execution tool and works with no immediate deadline, on a longer decision horizon. Its job is to keep the to-do list from swelling with future items that don't belong to the current execution session.
