RICE is a comparative scoring framework for projects that combines four variables: Reach (how many people or business units are affected), Impact (how strongly each one is affected), Confidence (how certain the estimate is), Effort (the resources required). The score is calculated as R x I x C divided by E. The absolute value of the score does not matter: what counts is the relative comparison between projects. ICE is the simplified version that drops the Reach variable.
