Leadership development: what it is and what it means

Leadership development works on the ability to influence choices and visions beyond your direct reports. It partly overlaps with management training, but does not coincide with it: management training works on the skills of the role (managing, delegating, organizing); leadership development is a specialization of the first when the role grows and requires the ability to exert broad organizational influence.
