An improvement suggestion is the idea of the person who carries out an activity to change one detail of it — a work sequence, where a material is kept — written down to be evaluated and to receive an answer by a set date. It differs from an informal suggestion, which does not commit the person who gives it, because it awaits an answer by definition: it exists when it is written with a name on it and when it is evaluated with declared criteria, even if the answer is a reasoned no. It concerns the way of working in an existing process, not a resource to buy or a new product, and stays at a size the department can implement on its own.
