Focus time is the share of time in the day dedicated to activities that require continuous, uninterrupted blocks of attention. It is distinct from mandatory-attendance time (meetings, appointments) and from quick-decision time (calls, detailed emails). The protection of focus time is the main goal of an integrated calendar: every interruption — regardless of its nature or length — resets the continuous, uninterrupted blocks and creates an empirically documented re-entry cost.
