Business management is the set of decisions, processes and tools through which a company plans its activities, organizes its resources and measures its results. It is made up of four interconnected areas: planning (where you want to go), processes (how you operate to get there), people (who does what, with what autonomy), control (how progress is checked). When one of these areas is left uncovered, the others tend to compensate in the wrong way: often the founder takes on the missing load, creating the bottleneck that many Italian business owners experience as "everything goes through me". Business management is not reserved for large organizations: it is a system that makes results repeatable and the organization less dependent on individual people.
