Learning transfer: what it is and what it means

Learning transfer is the process by which a skill acquired in a training setting is applied in real work autonomously and consistently. The mechanism works across three states: declarative knowledge (knowing), applied skill (knowing how, in protected conditions) and consolidated skill (knowing how, in natural conditions). Transfer does not happen automatically: it requires protected application between one training session and the next, with active supervision and structured observer feedback.
